Cool start to the week will give way to a warm weekend

CHAMPAIGN — Spring is taking its time, but warmer temperatures are expected toward the end of this week.

The first day of April is not expected to feel much like spring, though. The National Weather Service is forecasting a windy Monday with temperatures only in the low 40s during the afternoon. Overnight lows are expected to be around 21 going into Tuesday.

Tuesday will remain sunny but colder, with a high temperature around 43 degrees.

The warmup begins on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters are predicting sunny conditions with a high temperature of 48 degrees.

Temperatures will inch even higher on Thursday and Friday, when highs are expected to reach the mid- to upper-50s.

The weekend will finally bring temperatures above 60, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters are predicting mostly sunny conditions with a high near 63 on Sunday.
