Rural St. Joe man facing charges over wallet

URBANA — A 57-year-old rural St. Joseph man who allegedly stole a man's lost wallet containing $700 cash has been charged with a crime.

Urbana police Sgt. Dan Morgan said on Feb. 28, a 50-year-old Tuscola man unknowingly dropped his wallet in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store on High Cross Road then drove off. Seconds later, a man picked it up and also drove away.

Morgan said security employees of Wal-Mart were able to put together information from surveillance video that helped police identify the man who picked up the wallet as Douglas M. Antrim, 57, who listed an address on County Road 1300 N, St. Joseph.

Antrim was arrested Wednesday at his workplace in Urbana. On Thursday, he was charged with felony theft for taking the cash, which was not recovered, and misdemeanor theft of lost property.
