3 sought in theft of laptop, textbook at UI Undergraduate Library
URBANA — The University of Illinois Police Department needs help identifying three men involved in the theft of a laptop and textbook from the University of Illinois Undergraduate Library.
The victim told police that about 11:35 p.m. March 7, he left his backpack unattended near a table in the study area of the lower level of the library while he went outside to smoke. When he returned, his laptop, charger and a soft-cover textbook had been stolen from his backpack.
Surveillance video showed three men seen exchanging possession of the laptop, charger and textbook. At one point, one of the suspects looked at the surveillance cameras and then put his sweatshirt hood up in an attempt to conceal his identity, while holding on to the stolen items.
The suspects are described as a college-aged white male with dark, clean-cut hair who was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and white tennis shoes; a college-aged white male with dark hair who was wearing a black hat, black button-down shirt, black pants and black shoes; and a college-aged black male who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
