Indiana driver hurt in Ford crash; Buckley woman ticketed

PAXTON — A Buckley woman was ticketed following a crash in Ford County that she allegedly caused Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police from Ashkum said Janice S. Nieman, 53, was driving south on Interstate 57 in the right lane when she pulled in front of another car in the passing lane to avoid traffic that was merging onto the interstate.

When Nieman switched lanes, the driver of the other car, Ambriah Williams, 21, of Gary, Ind., slowed and she lost control of her car.

Williams' car then crossed into the right lane and drove into the ditch between the interstate and the entrance ramp. She hit a sign, crossed over the entrance ramp and hit several trees before coming to rest in the ditch.

Williams was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Nieman was ticketed for improper lane usage.

The accident happened at 7:54 a.m., police said.
