URBANA — Incumbent Ruth Ann Fisher kept her school board seat, winning 55 percent of the vote in the only contested Urbana school board race.

She beat challenger Regina Parnell, collecting 198 votes to Parnell's 158.

"I'm just excited to be able to continue to serve my community doing something I have grown to love doing for the students in the community," Fisher said. She was first elected in 1999.

Parnell thanked those who helped her during her campaign.

"I will continue to work hard and serve the children and families in not only the Prairie School neighborhood, but the Urbana-Champaign communities, as well," she said.
