Getting Personal is an email Q&A with a local personality. Here, Paul Wood chats with radio personality Hallie Marshall, 29, of Rantoul. She's on Lite Rock 97.5-FM on Saturday mornings and assists the WDWS, WHMS and WKIO radio stations. 

What time do you typically get up? What do you do the first hour of the morning?

6 a.m. Get ready for work and feed the dogs.

What did you have for lunch today? Where? With whom?

Black bean soup, at work, with myself.

Best high school memory?

Going on a trip to Memphis to see the Titanic exhibit.

Tell me about your favorite pair of shoes.

My sneakers. They are comfortable, and it's always nice to be able to go for a walk and not have to worry about changing shoes.

What does a perfect Sunday afternoon include?

Walking the dogs on a nice, sunny day and playing video games.

Was there one book you read as a child that you still cherish? Own? Read?

"Where the Red Fern Grows." I own the book and the movie.

Where on Earth are you dying to go? Why?

Scotland because of its history and geography.

Tell me about your favorite pet.

I have to tell you about two: my goldendoodle and my Pembroke Welsh corgi! They are the light of my life. I get home from work or school, and they greet me with tail and stub wagging. They always make me feel better. Best kids ever!

Have you discovered that you are becoming like one of your parents? Which one and how?

As I have matured, I have become a different person from my parents. I think I take a lot of their best qualities and mush them into my own individuality.

What would you order for your last meal?

Steak, a sweet potato, green beans and cheesecake for dessert! Yum!

What can you not live without?

Oxygen, literally!

Who do you have on your iPod?

Epica, Alanis Morissette, Daughtry, The Fray, 3 Doors Down, Il Divo and many more.

What's the happiest memory of your life?

I would say my happiest memory was seeing the birth of my nephew. Amazing!

If you could host a dinner party with any three living people in the world, whom would you invite?

Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy and Viggo Mortensen.

What's the best advice you've ever been given?

Life isn't black and white, it's complex and gray.

What's your best piece of advice?

Always work on growing; learn new things about yourself and the world; it's good for the brain.

What was your first job and how much did you make an hour?

Insurance paperwork filer; I think I made $5.25 an hour.

What was a pivotal decision in your career and how did you arrive at that decision?

When I decided to go back to school. I was bored, and taking classes helped me break up the routine and learn something new.

Do you have a bad habit? What is it?

Everyone has bad habits. Mine is fidgeting.

How do you handle a stressful situation?

With grace and poise! I wish!
