Teen sentenced to probation for indecent solicitation plea

URBANA — A Rantoul teen who admitted he tried to get a younger girl to perform a sex act with him has been sentenced to 30 months of probation.

Christian Rudzinski, 19, who listed an address in the 500 block of Glenwood Drive, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to indecent solicitation of a child. Following a sex offender evaluation, the judge will confirm his sentence on May 30.

The charge stemmed from an incident that happened Aug. 10, 2012, in the 300 block of Gray Avenue, where a Rantoul patrol officer found a dark car parked near the concession stand for the baseball fields.

Assistant State's Attorney Stephanie Weber said Rudzinski was in the car with a 12-year-old girl whom he met over Facebook. Both initially denied that anything was going on.

Following a police investigation, it was determined that Rudzinski had kissed the girl and tried to get her to perform a sex act on him, Weber said.

As part of his probation, Rudzinski will have to register as a sex offender and have no contact with the girl. Weber said Rudzinski had no prior criminal convictions.

A more serious charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse was dismissed as part of his plea.
