Gamelan concert set at UI

URBANA — The Robert E. Brown Center for World Music at the University of Illinois' School of Music will present a Balinese gamelan concert at 2 p.m. April 28 in the Music Building Auditorium, 1114 Nevada St.

This end-of-semester concert will feature musicians in the UI gamelan class and the Urbana-Champaign Community Gamelan, both under the direction of I Ketut Gede Asnawa.

Traditional works, new musical arrangements by Asnawa and a student composition by Benjamin D. Whiting and Scott D. Neff will be performed. Balinese dance under the direction of Putu Oka Mardiani Asnawa also will be featured.
