Students enjoyed Krannert symphony

The children in Champaign County are very fortunate because of all the arts programs available to them all year.

On recent Wednesday and Thursday mornings, more than 3,000 elementary schoolchildren attended a symphony concert presented by the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.

The children had the opportunity to hear and experience a live concert of special symphonic music for them in the Great Hall of Krannert Center.

Many of these children had not been in this great facility before or heard professional symphonic music. They all listened and watched intensely and seemed to enjoy the performance.

We are fortunate to have a great Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and members who take the time to perform during weekday mornings for the children.

I am grateful to all of the private and business supporters of this program, as well as the Guild of the CUSO, and especially to the teachers who made the arrangements for the children to attend the performances and used the Educators' Guide provided to them prior to the concerts to enhance the children's experience.
