Champaign man arrested on drug charge

URBANA — A Champaign man is being held at the Champaign County Jail on $20,000 bond after being arrested on a drug charge.

Anthony C. Davis, 40, who listed an address in the 400 block of Louisiana Avenue, Champaign, pleaded innocent on Monday to unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and violation of an order of protection with a prior domestic battery.

According to a sheriff's office report, police obtained a search warrant for Davis' home as a result of an ongoing drug investigation.

When officers arrived at Davis' home at 6:50 a.m. Friday, they found Davis there. They also found 1.5 grams (0.035 ounce) of suspected crack cocaine in eight clear individual packages inside the home and arrested him.

Police said Davis was also allegedly violating a no-contact order issued in connection with an arrest following a earlier domestic battery incident.

As a condition of his bond, Davis was ordered to wear a GPS electronic monitoring bracelet.

Judge Richard Klaus set a risk assessment hearing for Davis for May 10 and scheduled Davis' next court appearance for June 11.
