No serious injuries in 4-car accident on I-57

CHAMPAIGN — Four cars collided, but no serious injuries resulted, on Interstate 57 at Champaign on Wednesday morning near a road-work site.

According to state police, traffic had slowed for a construction crew on northbound I-57 near the University Avenue interchange at 7:51 a.m.

A car driven by Lauren Bailey To, 16, of Champaign hit the rear of a car driven by Carolyn Rainey Dodds, 17, of Champaign; Dodds' car then hit a car driven by Maria A. Marquez, 41, of Tuscola, which hit a car driven by Rachel L. Mason, 28, of Champaign.

All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts, according to state police. Marquez and Mason received minor injuries and were treated and released.

To was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
