VA hosts seminar on pain

DANVILLE — The Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System is hosting a seminar called "Veterans in pain: Learning to live with pain."

It will be held 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in the social activities room (Building 104) on the main campus, 1900 E. Main St., Danville.

It is free and open to veterans, their families and providers who want to learn more about helping people become actively involved in their wellness program.

Lunch will be provided.

With so many veterans returning home, many with injuries, there's an increased need to help them return to a full life, officials said. They said one of the major obstacles for many of them is their injuries, which, for many, lead to chronic pain problems.

The program will be presented by Penney Cowan, executive director of the American Chronic Pain Association.

aka...learn to live with pain while we refuse to admit you have any disability or we'll make up that it is some birth defect just so we don't have to say it was caused by service. how sweet.
