Drug plea brings prison sentence

URBANA — A Rantoul man who admitted he possessed cocaine in that village last summer has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.

Bobby G. Walker, 48, whose last known address was in the 1100 block of Falcon Drive, pleaded guilty before Judge Heidi Ladd last week to possession of a controlled substance. Walker was the passenger in a car stopped by Rantoul police for an alleged traffic violation on U.S. 136 near Murray Road on Aug. 25. Police found cocaine in the car.

More serious charges alleging that he possessed the drugs within 1,000 feet of a school were dismissed.
