Man sent to prison in drug case

URBANA — A Champaign man who had cocaine on him when he was allegedly threatening an ex-girlfriend has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Kenyo Toombs, 36, whose last known address was in the 200 block of West Ells Avenue, pleaded guilty this week before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to possession of a controlled substance.

He admitted he had about 3.4 grams of cocaine on him Feb. 23 when police found him at the home of an ex-girlfriend in the 1000 block of South Mattis Avenue, Champaign, where he had allegedly forced his way into her apartment.

Other charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal trespass to residence, criminal damage to property and possession of cannabis were dismissed in return for Toombs' plea.
