Police seek man in armed robbery

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police are looking for a man who robbed another man at gunpoint outside a Champaign bar early Tuesday.

Sgt. Dennis Baltzell said about 12:48 p.m., a 50-year-old man was approached by a younger man outside of Pia's bar in the 1600 block of West Springfield Avenue.

The younger man displayed a gun and demanded money from the victim. The victim handed over cash and his phone and the robber ran west through the parking lot then south.

Baltzell said the robber was described as a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 145 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, with a possible goatee. The handgun was black.
