Woman sent to prison for burglary

URBANA — A Fisher woman who pleaded guilty to breaking into a home in that city has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Champaign County Judge Heidi Ladd agreed to recommend Kaylan Braaten, 22, for the Department of Corrections' boot camp program.

Braaten pleaded guilty to residential burglary, admitting that on Aug. 3, 2012, she entered a home in the 400 block of South Fifth Street in Fisher and stole a purse and jewelry.

A second case of residential burglary alleging Braaten entered a home in Ludlow in September intending to steal was dismissed in return for her plea.
