Woman sentenced to drug court probation

URBANA — A Champaign woman who admitted shoplifting from an Urbana store was sentenced last week to 30 months of drug court probation.

Michelle T. Burns, 25, whose last known address was in the 1100 block of north Sixth Street, pleaded guilty in March to retail theft, admitting that on Jan. 28, she stole merchandise from the Walmart store on High Cross Road in Urbana.

In exchange, a more serious count of burglary was dismissed, as was a second case charging her with the theft of several hundred dollars worth of electronics and liquor from the Savoy Walmart on Jan. 7.

Judge Harry Clem imposed the sentence.
