Danville group readies annual Memorial Way
DANVILLE — The Danville Rotary Club is accepting flag sponsorships for its annual Rotary Memorial Way project.
Each year before Memorial Day, Rotarians and their family members place flags along Vermilion Street to honor servicemen and women. The flags remain on display throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
Proceeds are used to support the Vermilion County War Museum and other community service projects. Last year, the project raised more than $7,000.
Organizers said they're very thankful for the support the project has received over its 14-year history.
"It's obvious that Danville residents care about their communityand at the same timeappreciate havinga way to remember their loved ones," Jim Wagner, the project chairman, said in a release. "It's wonderful to see the names on the flags and know how much people care. It's a great tribute."
Individuals may sponsor a flag in honor or memory of a veteran or loved one for $5.
Sponsorship forms are available at the War Museum, the Danville Public Library, Iroquois Federal, Old National Bank and Trillium Staffing or online at http://www.rotaryflag.com.
This year, the club is also offering corporate sponsorships for a $200 donation. Corporate sponsors will receive 40 flags and special recognition.
For corporate sponsorship information contact Wagner at 446-7243 or Amy Hoose at 446-2940.
The deadline to sponsor a flag is May 20.
