Man charged with stealing roommate's laptop

URBANA — A White Heath man who admitted stealing from a former roommate in Champaign has been criminally charged with residential burglary.

A Champaign police report said that between March 15 and 25, Abdullah C. Foran, 18, allegedly went in his roommate's room while the roommate was on spring break and stole the man's laptop computer.

The men were living at an apartment in the 2000 block of West Bradley Avenue at the time.

Foran gave police a statement in late April, in which he admitted taking the computer and selling it for $200.

If convicted of residential burglary, Foran faces a mandatory prison sentence of between four and 15 years.

Judge Richard Klaus set his bond at $2,500 and told him to be back in court June 18.

I bet he doesn't steal from his roommate in the joint.  Of course, he is not going to prison.  He will get probation with a $500 fine.
