Alma Mater conservator updates restoration process

With the Alma Mater statue back in the news again, the man who's working to restore the landmark is shedding some light on the process.

Andrzej Dajnowski of the Conservation of Sculpture and Objects Studio in Forest Park, Illinois, said there have been some challenges, but they should be fixed without too much trouble.

Dajnowski added that he's waiting to see what shade of bronze reveals itself on the statue, and then some finishing touches will be made.

University of Illinois officials said the statue should be back in Urbana in time for graduation next year.
