Police expecting heavy traffic for commencement weekend

University of Illinois Police are cautioning people to expect heavy amounts of traffic this commencement weekend.

Captain Roy Acree said that a portion of First Street will be closed at peak traffic times on Sunday for UI graduation ceremonies at the State Farm Center.

He added that while First Street will be the only road closure in Champaign and Urbana, people should expect it to be busy everywhere all weekend, and he asked people to be patient while traveling around town.

Acree also suggested that those heading to the State Farm Center should come into the parking lot from the east off of Fourth Street, because there are usually less people and traffic and more parking spots on the east side of the building.
