BBQ with superintendent set in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign school district will host a Sunday BBQ with the Superintendent from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Garden Hills Elementary School.

There, community members can meet several Champaign administrations, including Superintendent Judy Wiegand; Matthew Foster, who will be the district's new executive director of business services; Ken Kleber, the executive director of human resources; and assistant superintendents Susan Zola, who works with the district's elementary schools; Angela Smith, middle schools; and Laura Taylor, high schools.

The school district hosts such get-togethers quarterly. The idea is to continue conversations between community members and the school district's administrators. The public is invited.

The barbecue will feature information about summer activities and resources from school district partners such as the Garden Hills Neighborhood Association, the Champaign Park District, Jericho Baptist Church, the city of Champaign and more.

Food will be provided by Texas Roadhouse and music will be provided courtesy of Stevie Jay Broadcasting. Kids are welcome to play in the park and participate in activities provided by the Champaign Park District.
