Bids in for addition at Unity West
TOLONO — It looks like a four-classroom addition at Unity West Elementary School will cost $932,000.
Superintendent Andrew Larson said this week that figure was the lowest bid received, and that $1.059 million was the highest bid.
Earlier this year, the board passed a $1.75 million bond issuance resolution to finance the addition's construction and the construction of a maintenance shed at Unity High School.
Alternate bids to include two restrooms in the Unity West addition "are well within reach," Larson added.
Construction projects are also planned at Unity High School this summer. Renovating the cabinetry in the high school consumer science classroom will cost an estimated $45,000. Other summer projects include bathroom renovations and the addition of tiling in the art and chorus rooms.
Roof work on the back side of the high school will cost about $100,000, according to Larson. A $50,000 grant is being applied for to help cover that cost, Larson said.
All of the renovation projects are being funded through sales tax revenue.
