DACC offers sports camps in June

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College, 2000 E. Main St., will offer the following sports camps in June:

— Basketball Camp II will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 10-14 for students entering seventh through 12th grade. The cost is $50.

It will offer individual instruction in the techniques of all offense and defense positions, shooting, passing, defense and dribbling. Teamwork will be emphasized.

— Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 17-21 for students entering fourth through sixth grade. The cost is $50.

Campers will learn basketball fundamentals including shooting, passing, defense, dribbling, rules of the game and good sportsmanship.

— Volleyball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 24-28 for students entering fifth through 12th grade. The cost is $50.

DACC coaches and players will teach serving, volleying, setting, spiking and the mental approach to volleyball.

— Sports Media Camp will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. for students entering seventh through 12th grade. The cost is $65.

The camp will be led by WDAN radio sports announcers and have nationally known guest speakers. Campers will learn interviewing, play-by-play, sports writing, video editing, public address announcing and TV studio work. They also will take a field trip.

The nationally recognized summer program has taught future broadcasters, writers and sports media professionals for the past 16 years.

Campers should wear tennis shoes, T-shirt and gym shorts. Each camper will receive a DACC camp T-shirt, prizes for contests and a certificate of completion.
