Urbana man gets probation for heroin possession

URBANA — An Urbana man arrested in southeast Urbana in March for having heroin in his home has been sentenced to probation.

Craig Green, 38, of who listed an address in the 0-100 block of Rainbow Court, pleaded guilty earlier this month in Champaign County Circuit Court to possession of a controlled substance.

Urbana narcotics officers did a court-ordered search of Green’s home on March 8 and found a gram of heroin. Urbana police investigator Matt Quinley said when Green was arrested that said a gram represents 10 doses, which is usually more than a user would have.

In a negotiated plea agreement, Green pleaded guilty to mere possession for a sentence of 30 months probation and the payment of about $2,700 in fines and costs. In return, a more serious charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance was dismissed.

Maybe he was planning a trip? There was a sale? Everyone is so cynical.
