Nobody reported hurt in fire at quarry

TUSCOLA — Nobody was reported hurt in a fire Wednesday at a quarry in rural Tuscola.

Villa Grove Assistant Fire Chief Russ Elston said that firefighters from Arcola, Broadlands-Longview, Camargo, Tuscola and Villa Grove were called to a truck fire at the Tuscola Stone quarry on U.S. 36 east of Tuscola about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"A large dump truck was in a big quarry, and it was on fire," Elston said. "We had to haul water to the scene."

Elston said the fire was under control by 12:30 p.m., and firefighters left the scene by 2:30 p.m.

Elston said it was too early to give a dollar estimate on damage to the truck.
