New EMA coordinator named for Champaign County

URBANA — Champaign County will have a new Emergency Management Agency coordinator this weekend.

Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh announced on Thursday that he is appointing John Dwyer as the new coordinator, effective Sunday.

Dwyer, of St. Joseph, has served as deputy director for the Champaign County EMA for the past two years.

Before joining the EMA, Dwyer worked at Champaign County Public Health.

He has a masters degree in public health and serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Illinois Air National Guard.
