Georgia man reported injured in crash

CHAMPAIGN — A Georgia man was injured in a single vehicle accident at a Champaign interchange Thursday morning.

According to a state police report, Charles M. Dixon, 23, who listed an address in Douglasville, Ga., was driving a semi tractor-trailer north on Interstate 57 and was attempting to take the exit ramp headed for westbound Interstate 74 when he failed to reduce enough speed for the ramp and overturned into the left ditch at the bottom of the ramp at 7:27 a.m.

Dixon was taken to Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, where he was treated and released.

Police said Dixon was wearing his seat belt.

Police ticketed Dixon for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
