GEORGETOWN — Georgetown-Ridge Farm School Board members voted this week to create two administrative positions in the district and hope to have them filled in time for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
Because Ridge Farm Elementary School is closing, an assistant principal position is being added at Pine Crest Elementary School.
After the fourth-grade and fifth-grade students who currently attend Ridge Farm Elementary are added to the K-3 school, there will be about 520 students at Pine Crest Elementary next year, Superintendent Jean Neal has said.
The district will seek applicants among current staff members before looking for outside applicants, and Neal hopes to have an assistant principal in place by Aug. 1.
The district is also seeking a student services director to focus on overseeing the education of special-needs students.
Last March, Neal said the district is looking to restructure its special education program according to some new state guidelines so that special education students can — with some support — participate in regular education.
