Two face burglary charges
RANTOUL — Two Rantoul men who were allegedly stealing items from a business struck by fire earlier this month have been charged with burglary.
Rantoul police Sgt. Justin Bouse said early Thursday afternoon, a passerby saw two men in the 500 block of Wabash Avenue, One was carrying a computer monitor and the other had two large duffle bags. Thinking it suspicious, the witness called police.
Officers located the man who had the computer monitor nearby but the one who was toting the bags dropped them in an effort to conceal them. Police looked in the bags and found several tools that had been stolen from the Arrow EDM building, 802 Veterans Parkway.
The business had been heavily damaged by fire on May 1. Bouse said there are still many items inside the building which need to be relocated before the building is torn down.
Bouse said the two men who had the items that allegedly came from Arrow EDM were Darius C. Bray, 24, and Deandre Gary, 23, both of the 700 block of East Sangamon Avenue.
Both men were charged Friday. Burglary is a Class 2 felony carrying penalties ranging from probation to three to seven years in prison upon conviction.
