Arrest made in 2012 Danville murder

DANVILLE – Peoria police arrested a Danville man Friday night in connection with the beating death of a Danville woman almost one year ago, according to Larry Thomason, Danville public safety director.

Thomason said Kenneth R. Dye, 52, of Danville, was arrested by Peoria police Friday night and was transferred to the custody of Danville police
in connection with the death of Joan Duckworth, 50, in June 2012.

Thomason said Dye faces three counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated domestic battery and one count of aggravated battery.

In June 2012, a relative found the body of Ms. Duckworth in her home, located in the 500 block of Porter Street in Danville, shortly after 9 p.m. An autopsy showed she died of blunt force trauma.

Police were called to Ms. Duckworth’s residence by the woman’s relative. The relative had not heard from Ms. Duckworth in a few days, grew concerned, went over to her house to check on her and found the body.

Thomason said Saturday that the police had continued to work the case and on Friday secured a murder warrant for Dye. Peoria police received a tip that  Dye was at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria and arrested him there.

He now faces the murder and related charges in Vermilion County where he’s being held at the county jail.
