DANVILLE — Officials are investigating a fire that damaged a home on the city's southeast side on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were called to a possible house fire at 10 Columbus St. at 8:39 a.m. When they arrived, smoke was coming from the north side of the two-story wood-frame structure.
Lt. Sean O'Kane said firefighters found the fire in an upstairs bedroom. They brought the blaze under control in about 15 to 20 minutes but stayed on the scene until about 10:30 a.m.
O'Kane said the homeowner, whose name wasn't available, wasn't home when the fire broke out. He said a firefighter suffered a minor injury when an ember hit his face.
The fire damage was contained to the bedroom and an exterior wall. Damage was estimated at about $10,000.
