Champaign, Thomasboro residents hurt in crash south of Philo

RURAL PHILO — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash south of Philo on Monday morning.

According to a state police report, Joseph M. Eisenmenger, 58, who listed an address in Champaign, and David Smith, 84, who listed an address in Philo, were in separate vehicles that were stopped on Illinois 130 just north of County Road 400 N due to a previous accident when a vehicle driven by Ashley Hall, 29, who listed an address in Thomasboro, approached them from the rear.

Police said Hall failed to realize the other two vehicles had stopped, despite flares and a police vehicle with lights flashing.

Hall's vehicle hit the rear of Eisenmenger's vehicle, sending Eisenmenger's vehicle into the back of Smith's vehicle at 6:48 a.m Monday.

While Hall was reported injured, she declined to be taken to a hospital.

Eisenmenger was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was treated and released.

Smith was not injured.

Police ticketed Hall for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving too fast for conditions.
