Indiana man treated after I-57 crash near Pesotum

RURAL PESOTUM — An Indiana man was injured in a two-vehicle accident north of Pesotum on Monday morning.

According to a state police report, Patrick J. Corwin, 28, of Lafayette, Ind., was driving a tractor pulling a semitrailer north on Interstate 57 in heavy fog when he collided with a northbound tractor-trailer driven by Richard A. Largaespada, 64, of Berrien Springs, Minn., about 3 3/4 miles north of Pesotum at 6:43 a.m. Monday.

Police said Largaespada had slowed down due to another crash ahead of him.

Corwin's vehicle slowed and swerved to the left to avoid Largaespada's vehicle, but he still rear-ended the semi, hitting it in the left rear corner.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to police.

Corwin was treated and released. Largaespada was not injured.

Police ticketed Corwin for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving too fast for conditions.
