Rural Tolono crash injures Minnesota woman

TOLONO — A Minnesota woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash in rural Tolono on Monday morning.

According to a state police report, Brant D. Burris, 27, who listed an address in Tuscola, was driving a pickup truck north in the passing lane of Interstate 57 south of mile marker 224, behind a vehicle in the driving lane driven by Sophea Chheang, 37, who listed an address in Rochester, Minn., at 7:53 a.m. Monday when Chheang changed lanes and slowed due to another crash ahead of them.

Burris slowed and veered to the right in an attempt to avoid hitting Chheang's vehicle, but he still hit the right rear of Chheang's vehicle.

A passenger in Chheang's vehicle, Sopheary Chea, 59, of Rochester, Minn., was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where she was treated and released.

Burris, Chheang and two other passengers in Chheang's vehicle, Ajay Keo, 8, and Annabelle Keo, 7, both of Rochester, Minn., were not injured.

All five of them were wearing seat belts, according to police.

No tickets were issued.
