Two people hurt in two vehicle crash south of Philo

RURAL PHILO — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning south of Philo.

According to a state police report, Ryan N. Boes, 20, who listed an address in Oakland, was driving a car north on Illinois 130 about 400 feet south of County Road 400 N when he attempted to pass a black pickup truck that was traveling 55 mph, when Boes' vehicle crashed into a southbound garbage truck driven by Jon C. Sanford, 36, who listed an address in Champaign, in the southbound lane at 5:59 a.m. Monday.

Boes' vehicle went off into a field east of the highway, while the garbage truck went into the west ditch.

Boes had to be extricated from his car. He was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was listed in good condition on Monday night.

Sanford was also taken to Carle, where he was treated and released.

Police said no tickets had been issued as of Monday evening.

Boes should never drive again. Visibility was almost zero this morning because of fog. His Grand Prix ended up WELL into the field on the east side of Route 130. He's lucky he's not dead.

Slow down, people. There's nowhere you need to be that is worth losing your life. Thank goodness nobody died in this mess. Wow.
