Cause of Danville house fire undetermined

DANVILLE — Fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of a Sunday morning fire that heavily damaged a house and caused some minor injuries to one resident.

Duane Hall, assistant chief with the Danville Fire Department, said firefighters responded to the house fire at 1:16 a.m. Sunday at 1101 N. Logan Ave., Danville.

Hall said there was fire on the first and second floors of the two-story brick house and in the garage when firefighters arrived on the scene. Hall said the male resident escaped safely, and the female resident had to be rescued from the balcony over the attached garage by firefighters using an extension ladder. Hall said firefighters made that rescue under heavy fire, and the female suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

He said the cause is still under investigation, and the damage estimate is not yet known, but there was heavy loss to the structure and its contents.
