Police seek man charged in shooting

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police are looking for a man who allegedly fired shots at another man in a car earlier this week.

Rodell Williams, 20, was charged Tuesday with aggravated discharge of a firearm for allegedly firing shots in the direction of a man in a car in the 1000 block of Northwood Street about 4 a.m. Monday.

Champaign police said Williams and the 25-year-old Champaign man he allegedly shot at had been in a physical fight before the shooting. The man was not hit by gunfire.

Williams was last seen running from the area, headed north on McKinley Avenue, from Northwood. He was wearing a white T-shirt and red hat.

Bond on the warrant issued for his arrest was set at $1 million.

Police said the Monday shooting does not appear to be related to the five incidents of gunfire that happened between June 7 and 10.
