Benefit planned for Vermilion County woman

DANVILLE — A benefit will be held to help a Grape Creek woman who has been battling health issues.

The benefit for Judy Marsh will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at Cloud 9 Banquet Hall at the Vermilion Regional Airport, 22633 N. Bowman Ave., Danville.

Donations of $8 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under will be taken.

A spaghetti dinner including salad, bread, drinks and dessert will be available for a small donation.

The event includes a cake walk and a silent auction. There also will be entertainment by Spotlite Karaoke.

All proceeds will be used to help her cover medical expenses.

Marsh had knee replacement surgery in May 2012. She was taken to the hospital on July 26, 2012, because of an infection in her artificial knee, according to her husband, Tom Marsh. The infection grew rapidly, causing her to lose kidney function and fall into a coma. She had four surgeries in eight days, six weeks of being in and out of the intensive care unit and she was put on a ventilator.

Tom Marsh said his wife has regained full kidney function and her health is improving. She is currently in Symphony Nursing Home in Lincoln. However, he said, she has no knee joint and can't walk.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance by calling Marsh's daughters, Tawnya Marsh at 918-1272 or Jenny Marsh at 474-9044.

Donations also may be made to the Judy Marsh fund at First Illinois Credit Union in Danville.
