Burglaries reported in Sidney

SIDNEY — Champaign County sheriff's investigators are looking for the person or persons who burgled at least three vehicles in Sidney earlier this week.

Sgt. Dan Coile said the vehicle burglaries in town happened between Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning. Deputies also took a fourth report about a utility vehicle stolen out of a shed about three miles north of Sidney during the same time frame.

— 600 block of Dunlap Woods: Back window of a car shattered and the trunk lid was dented; $800 damage.

— 400 block of South White Street: Unlocked van was entered and $20 stolen.

— 300 block of South Harrison Street: Unlocked Jeep entered; iPod Touch, sunglasses and vehicle owner's manual, worth total of $405, stolen.

Coile said deputies were also alerted on Wednesday morning to the fact that a utility vehicle had been stolen out of a barn on County Road 1300 N, about three miles north of Sidney. The $15,000 vehicle was recovered not far away, however.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call the sheriff's office at 217-384-1213 or tips can be relayed to Crimestoppers at 217-373-8477.
