Camargo man treated after SUV crash on I-72

CHAMPAIGN — A Camargo man was treated and released from Carle Foundation Hospital after crashing his sport utility vehicle west of Champaign Friday night.

A release from Illinois State Police at Pesotum said James F. Sargeant, 35, was on the ramp from westbound Interstate 72 to go south on I-57 when his SUV left the road.

The vehicle hit a delineator post and rolled over several times into the west ditch before landing upright.

Police said Sargeant left on foot but returned hours later. He was then taken to Carle and was treated for his injuries.

He was also issued a ticket for driving under the influence of alcohol.
