Two Milford men reported injured in crash

RURAL HOOPESTON — Two Milford men were hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash last week in rural Hoopeston.

According to a state police report, William H. Clingenpeel Jr., 35, who listed an address in Milford, was driving south on Illinois 1 last Friday at 100 North Road between Milford and Hoopeston when the vehicle hit an embankment and overturned.

Clingenpeel and a passenger, Joshua J. Witty, 30, who listed an address in Milford, were taken to Hoopeston Community Hospital and later transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, which had no information on their conditions on Monday night.

Police said they found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the possession of the driver. Police declined to say how much suspected marijuana was found.

Police ticketed Clingenpeel for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
