Four teens injured in crash south of Homer

HOMER— Four teenagers were injured in a Tuesday morning single-vehicle car crash south of Homer.

Austin M. Scott, 17, of St. Joseph was driving a white 2001 Ford Crown Victoria on Champaign County road 600 N about 5:50 a.m. Tuesday and didn't stop at a stop sign at Illinois 49, according to state police.

The car crossed the highway, struck a ditch and came to rest in a corn field about 200 feet east of the state highway.

Police said Scott, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported to Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, but the hospital said he wasn't there.

One of his passengers, Isiah W. Hancock, 15, of Broadlands, was listed in fair condition at Covenant. Two other passengers, Courtney J. Hancock, 14, of Homer and Anastasia M. Fancher, 15, of Broadlands, were injured and transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. No information on their conditions was available.

Scott was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for having too many passengers in his car.
