Fisher Fair queen named

Kirsten Blackford, 21, of Champaign is the new queen of the 2013 Fisher Fair pageant.

The former rural Rankin resident, a graduate of Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School, was crowned Tuesday night by 2012 queen Taylor Franzen.

She is a daughter of Jeff Blackford and Rhonda Blackford-Sorenson.

Fisher resident Tiffany Smith was named first runner-up, while Cassidy Smith of Sidney was named Miss Congeniality.

Blackford will travel throughout the state promoting agriculture and the Fisher Fair. She will compete for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen in January.

Giving up her crown was 2012 fair queen Taylor Franzen of Gifford, who was the first Fisher Fair queen since 1969.

Six-year-old Makennah Hamilton of Ogden was crowned Little Miss Fisher Fair by another Ogden resident, Avery Johnson, the 2012 Little Miss Fisher Fair.
