Urbana man gets three years for selling heroin

URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted selling heroin in that city earlier this year has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Lawrence P. Lewis, 20, whose last known address was in the 800 block of South Anderson Street, and who previously lived on Stoneway Court in Champaign, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Judge Heidi Ladd to delivery of a controlled substance.

Assistant State's Attorney Dan Clifton said Lewis admitted that on March 26 he sold nine-tenths of a gram of heroin to a confidential source working with Urbana police. The sale occurred in the parking lot of a store in the 2500 block of South Philo Road.

Clifton said Lewis has prior convictions for possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlawful use of weapons.
