Savoy board approves facilities projects
The Savoy Village Board has approved two projects to improve facilities in the community.
A contract has been signed with Tarter Construction to build a 12,000 square foot public works facility southwest of the municipal center. The project will cost around $2.7 million, and construction could begin in early to mid-August, with a scheduled completion date of next February.
Village Manager Dick Helton said public works is currently spread into several locations throughout Savoy, including one behind the municipal center. Helton said this project, which he said has been needed for a long time, will bring everything into one area.
Meanwhile, the Village Board has also approved a bid of about $112,000 for a roof replacement project at the municipal center.
