UI alum places second on game show

A Champaign resident came up just short on the game show Jeopardy! on Thursday.

University of Illinois alumna and current university employee Dawn Owens-Nicholson finished in second place on Thursday's show, taking home $2,000.

She finished round one in third place with $2,200 but got on a roll in round two, finishing that round in the lead with $21,000.  That round included a correct Daily Double response in the category of wedding anniversary gifts that netted Owens-Nicholson $10,000.

Owens-Nicholson did not put forth a guess in the Final Jeopardy! question in the category of classical music.  But she wagered nothing, so she lost nothing.
