Mosquitoes with West Nile found in Macon County

West Nile Virus has made its way to East Central Illinois.

The Macon County Health Department said mosquitoes carrying the virus have been found in the county.

Residents can help avoid the disease by applying bug spray, getting rid of standing water on your property and making sure your screens and doors are tight so as not to allow insects in.

Symptoms of West Nile include fever, headaches, body aches, disorientation and body tremors.
