Ex-boyfriend stabbed in break-in
CATLIN — A man who allegedly forced his way into the home of an ex-girlfriend in Catlin Saturday was stabbed by a man who was visiting the woman.
Vermilion County Sheriff’s investigator Todd Damilano said the incident happened at an apartment complex in the southwest part of town a little after 4 a.m.
He declined to release the names of any of the three people involved since there were no arrests but said after the ex-boyfriend allegedly forced his way in, there was an argument between him and the man who was visiting the woman. The argument escalated and the visiting man ended up stabbing the ex-boyfriend multiple times in the torso and arm.
Damilano said the intruder had arrived in a cab and had the cab driver take him to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, where he was stabilized and then transferred to another hospital.
Damilano said the man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The ex-boyfriend was not armed. Damilano believed alcohol may have played a role in his actions.
All three people involved are in their mid-20s, said Damilano.
He said he would finish his reports and send them this week to the Vermilion County state’s attorney, who will decide what, if any, criminal charges will be filed.
