Coroner identifies body from Crystal Lake

URBANA — A 30-year-old Urbana man whose body was found in Crystal Lake on Monday apparently drowned. Autopsy results show no foul play.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northup said Antonio Crumpton, 30, of Urbana, was the man pronounced dead at the scene at 12:45 p.m. Monday.

He said Mr. Crumpton was identified through fingerprints that were collected during the autopsy, which was held Tuesday in Urbana.

According to Northrup, preliminary autopsy results showed that Mr. Crumpton's death was consistent with drowning. He said the autopsy found no evidence of injuries or foul play.

Urbana police Lt. BryantSeraphin said police got a call from people at Crystal Lake Park at 12:18 p.m. Monday after they saw what appeared to be a body floating face down in the lake.

When police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians arrived at the lake, they found a man's body about 50 yards from the north shore of the eastern portion of the lake.

Divers from the Cornbelt Fire Protection District in Mahomet helped retrieve the body.

Northrup said his office is still waiting for the results of toxicology testing, and he said an inquest may be held at a later date.
